K2 - Pakistan

The name K2 was given in 1852 by British surveyor T.G. Montgomerie with "K" designating the Karakoram Range and "2" since it was the 2nd peak listedLater K2 was named Mount Godwin-Austen for Haversham Godwin-Austen (1834-1923), an early British surveyor and explorer. Godwin-Austen climbed 1,000 meters up a spur of Masherbrum above Urdukas and fixed the approximate height and position of K2 from there K2, also called Chhogori/Qogir, Ketu/Kechu, and Mount Godwin-Austen is the second maximum mountain inside the world, after Mount Everest, at eight,611 metres (28,251 ft) above sea level. It is far positioned at the China-Pakistan border. K2 is the highest point of the Karakoram range and the best point in Pakistan. K2 is called the Savage Mountain due to the intense difficulty of ascent. It has the second-highest fatality rate among the eight thousanders. With round 300 successful summits and 80 deaths , approximately one person dies on the mountain for each 4 who summit. It is more greater hard and risky to reach the height of K2 from the China ; accordingly, it is also climbed from the Pakistani side . In contrast to Annapurna, the mountain with the very best fatality-to-summit charge (191 summits and 61 fatalities), K2 has in no way been climbed for the duration of winter.
